The junction of the San'in Main Line, Hakubi Line, and Sakaiminato Line — the rail travel hub for the Yonago area.
JR Yonago Station is one of the most important terminal stations in the San'in region, located in the heart of Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture. Three rail lines converge here — the San'in Main Line (toward Matsue and Tottori), the Hakubi Line (toward Okayama), and the Sakaiminato Line (toward Sakaiminato) — making it a vital rail junction connecting the San'in and Sanyo regions.
The Sakaiminato Line platform, nicknamed "Nezumi Otoko Station" (Rat Man Station), is Platform 0, where the "Kitaro Train" — designed with characters such as Kitaro, Medama Oyaji, and Neko Musume — arrives and departs. Bronze statues of yokai characters are installed on the platform, making it a popular starting point for tourists heading to Sakaiminato, hometown of Shigeru Mizuki. Bus terminals and rental car shops are also concentrated around the station, providing easy access to Kaike Onsen and the Mt. Daisen area.
Inside the station and in the surrounding commercial facilities, San'in souvenirs and restaurants abound, making it easy to make the most of any time before or after a journey. As the gateway to the Hoki-Yonago area, it is the first station where most travelers arrive.
